Project Row Houses Seeking Artists

Project Row Houses Seeking Artists

Hello my name is Page Neal and I work for Project Row Houses. Project Row Houses is currently collaborating with the music venue/coffee shop "The Well" to throw a party that raises funds to benefit Project Row Houses' Young Mother's Residency Program.

The party is schedule for June 25th at the "Well." There will be dj-s, a band, a dance troupe all performing at the venue. We are currently asking artists to participate in the event by auctioning off a piece of work, with all profits donated to the move out fund for the Young Mother's Residency Program. We are also excited about artists doing an installation/ performance that would attract a larger audience.

This years current young mothers and children will be leaving Project Row Houses at the end of the month and the new young mothers and children will be arriving in mid-July. All of the procceeds from the event will be used to assist with the move out costs and will also be used to purchase new household goods for the incoming mothers and children.

The entrance fee to the event is either 10 dollars or a newly purchased household appliance (ie a set of glasses, silverware, shower curtain, etc.)

I know that it is late notice, but it could be a a really fun event. Let either Robert Pruitt or myself know if you are interested in participating.

Thanks so much,

Lawndale Art Center

Extra Call for Proposals

Attention Artists!!!!

Lawndale Art Center is currently accepting proposals for shows in the O'Quinn Gallery ONLY to be exhibited in 2006

Submission deadline is July 1, 2005 at 5:00pm

Lawndale Art Center is a non-profit alternative space actively seeking proposals from artists for exhibitions and performances. Lawndale was founded in 1979 as a student/artist exhibition center. It was established to support local and regional visual and performing artists. Formerly located in an old East End cable manufacturing warehouse owned by the University of Houston, Lawndale is now centrally located at 4912 Main Street in the Museum District. Its continuing mission is to present work by both emerging and established Houston artists, as well as regional artists. Lawndale seeks to sponsor educational forums and dialogues, which address the relationship between art and society.

Lawndale provides exhibiting artists with some assistance toward the shipping and installation costs of the work to be shown, media promotion of the show, printed invitations and brochures, and a reception with wine and beer.
